As a pediatrician and an athlete, helping others experience health and wellness is Dr. Kimberly's joy and focus in life.
During her 17 years in private practice, she saw a gap in the community resources for those who struggle with their body image, weight, obesity, and eating disorders. These struggles were near and dear to her heart as she too had struggled with food, nutrition, and body image as a teen athlete and young adult.
Initially, it was a dislike of her athletic build, which developed into a dieting cycle and excessive exercise in her late teens, and eventually bulimia. By 23, she recovered from bulimia yet had many more years of unbalanced and restrictive eating. Learning proper nutrition fueling, and how to balance protein, carbohydrates, and fat was instrumental in her complete recovery in her mid-20's.
After Medical School and Residency, Dr. Kimberly found balance, health, and enjoyment in helping heal kids as a hospitalist, an urgent care, and ER physician, and lastly as a private practice. After 17 years of pediatrics (2000-2017), Dr. Kimberly began to explore other career path opportunities in nutrition and eating disorder treatment. She pursued multiple eating disorder and fitness nutrition certifications, including the Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapist (EDIT) training and yoga instructor certification.
Dr. Kimberly has been working as an eating disorder recovery coach since 2018, coaching many across the globe with an international organization, as well as working with local teens and adults in her hometown of Knoxville, TN. Through nutrition education, exploring triggers, and rewiring old habits and patterns, Dr. Kimberly has led many through the recovery process into a life free of food and body image obsession.
Dr. Kimberly also offers faith-based coaching, and has found this approach to be an intricate part of the healing journey for many.
Aside from her eating disorder recovery and nutritional coaching, Dr. Kimberly enjoys the outdoors, running, hiking, biking, traveling, and spending time with her family. Is coaching right for you?
